Red-brick walls rise several storeys high with open sky between them. The roof is long gone, but the massive walls and arches make it easy to picture how big the place was. Patches of mosaic floor survive, and underground tunnels once carried the water and fuel. Unlike the queues at the Colosseum, there are stretches here where you walk a long while without meeting anyone. At dusk the brick turns orange.
