The gallery lets in a fixed number of people per slot and walks them out exactly two hours later, which means those two hours are never crowded. In Bernini's Apollo and Daphne her fingertips are caught in marble at the moment they turn into laurel leaves, and in The Rape of Proserpina Pluto's fingers press into her thigh like real flesh. Six Caravaggios and Canova's reclining Paolina are here too. An audio-guide app is a good way to follow along.
