Coronet Peak is 16 km from town on a sealed road; The Remarkables sits in the range behind the airport, reached by a gravel road

When the northern hemisphere is sweltering, Queenstown is in ski season. Coronet Peak is the closest field to town, with the lake and town spread below the runs and solid snowmaking that keeps early season reliable. The Remarkables sits in a wide basin under the jagged peaks it's named for, with good beginner areas and terrain parks. The 2026 season wrapped up in mid-October, so for skiing you'll need to plan for next winter (from around June).
