Address: End of Moke Lake Road, off the Glenorchy–Queenstown road; start from the Moke Lake Reserve car park

Turn off the Glenorchy road and rattle down a long gravel stretch, and a small lake appears tucked against the hills. The loop from the car park crosses open grass and a short boardwalk over a wetland, with no real climbing. On calm mornings the ridge doubles itself in the water, and a few tents dot the campsite on the far shore. Few people come out here, so the birds are the loudest thing on the walk.
