In Qingdao, 'Wangjie' is close to shorthand for skewers. The Zhongshan Road shop near Pichaiyuan is the one visitors find; if a tiny storefront is mobbed, you're there. Charcoal-grilled squid, lamb skewers and a glass of draft Tsingtao is the routine. Shops with the same name are scattered around town (one on Hong Kong East Road in Laoshan, for example), and people say quality varies by branch.
