A castle-like stone mansion built around 1905 for the governor of the German concession. Pointed towers, half-timbered walls and a green roof against the wooded hill make it look like a storybook illustration. From 1934 it became the 'Guest House' for VIPs, and the room where Mao Zedong stayed for a month in summer 1957 is kept as it was. You can walk through the gold-papered reception room, the chandeliered banquet hall and down to the wine cellar.
