Address
The double-deck iron bridge between Ribeira and Gaia; the top deck starts near Batalha and the cathedral, the lower deck from the Ribeira quay

This is the iron arch on every Porto postcard, finished in 1886 and designed by Théophile Seyrig, Eiffel's former partner. The top deck is for walkers and metro line D only, so the yellow trains glide past a few metres from you. Below you get the stacked colourful houses of Ribeira, the port-lodge roofs of Gaia and the rabelo boats all at once, and the wind up there is strong. The lower deck sits just above the water, and in summer local teenagers jump from it into the river.
