Patong's kitchen: an indoor fresh market by day, with a street-food night market out front after dark. The ground floor has fruit, vegetables and tanks of seafood; upstairs, restaurants cook what you bought for a fee. Vendors hand out plenty of samples, and it's the place to grab mangoes and mangosteens before heading back to your hotel. Seafood and cooking fees are both negotiable, so never take the first price.
