This was a railway station built for the 1900 World's Fair. Inside, a long central nave runs under an arched glass roof with a huge gilded clock at the end. The Impressionists are on the top floor, and most visitors say it works best to start there and come down. Van Gogh's self-portraits and Starry Night Over the Rhône, Monet and Renoir share one floor. Stand behind the giant clock face on the top level and you see the Seine and the Louvre through the numerals.
