It opened in 1910 on a corner of Boulevard Raspail and is still the Left Bank's signature palace hotel. German military intelligence took it over during the war, and after the 1944 liberation it became a centre welcoming deportees home. It closed in 2014 for a four-year restoration, reopened in 2018, and became a Mandarin Oriental in April 2025. Le Bon Marché is across the street and the cafés of Boulevard Saint-Germain are a short walk away.
