Address
A medieval village on a rock over 400 m up; the garden sits on the old castle site at the very top

Step off the bus and look up: the houses don't so much cling to the rock as become it. Inside there are only stone stairways, no cars, and every archway opens on a gallery, a perfume shop or a little hotel terrace. At the summit, the exotic garden scatters cacti and succulents among clay statues of women, and beyond them the sea drops away 400 metres to the Cap Ferrat peninsula. There's no shade and midday is hot, but people come for this view and it delivers.
