The Manhattan walkway starts on Centre Street by City Hall; the DUMBO photo spot is at Washington and Water Streets in Brooklyn

Step onto the wooden walkway by City Hall and the stone towers with their twin Gothic arches rise over the traffic, steel cables fanning out between them like a web. It's about 1.8 km to Brooklyn, around 40 minutes with photo stops. In DUMBO, the famous shot is down Washington Street between red-brick warehouses, with the blue Manhattan Bridge tower at the end and the Empire State Building framed in its arch; there's a queue for it from early morning. Down on the pebbles at Pebble Beach, the Brooklyn Bridge and Lower Manhattan fit into one frame.
