The Owari branch of the Tokugawa family kept its household treasures together for nearly four centuries, and this is where they ended up: swords and armour, Noh masks, a bridal palanquin. The Tale of Genji scroll, a national treasure, belongs to the collection too, but it is fragile and shown only for a few days in autumn, so check the exhibition schedule first. Pair it with Tokugawaen next door for a solid half day.
