Address
San Miguel is just west of Plaza Mayor; El Rastro is a 10-minute walk south, around Plaza de Cascorro and Ribera de Curtidores

The Mercado de San Miguel is a 1916 iron-and-glass market hall filled wall to wall with tapas counters: ham being carved, oysters and prawns, olive skewers, croquetas. You buy a plate here, a glass there, and eat standing up. Ten minutes south, El Rastro, the flea market that sets up only on Sunday and holiday mornings, spills downhill from Plaza de Cascorro in an endless line of stalls: old postcards, leather goods, vinyl, unidentifiable antiques. On a Sunday, do Rastro, then tapas in the La Latina lanes, then San Miguel, and lunch takes care of itself.
