Pink stars run along the Hollywood Boulevard pavement, each with a name: actors, singers, directors, and the odd cartoon like Mickey Mouse or Shrek. Halfway along is the TCL Chinese Theatre, all red columns and bronze pagoda roof, where everyone crouches in the forecourt to press their hands into a star's cement prints. Next door the Dolby Theatre hosts the Oscars, and from the Ovation Hollywood terraces above it you can see the Hollywood Sign on the hill. The street itself is scruffy and chaotic, so treat it as an hour or two of photos and souvenirs, then move on.
