Paul and Betty Pink started it in 1939 with a hot dog cart bought on a $50 loan from Betty's mother. A line forms on the sidewalk under the pink sign, and the walls are packed with signed photos of Hollywood visitors. The chili dog, heaped with chili, is the baseline, and many dogs are named after celebrities. Reviews often say you come for the LA landmark more than the food, usually alongside Melrose Avenue and the Paul Smith pink wall.
