Under a green arched roof, stalls of bags, watches, trainers and souvenirs crowd both sides of a narrow street. Sellers thrust calculators at you with an opening price, while roasting chestnuts and shouts for iced lychee drinks fill the air. One block over, Kwai Chai Hong changes the mood completely: murals of old Chinese immigrant life under strings of red lanterns, with a queue for photos once it's dark.
