Address
Dutch Square (Red Square) in Malacca's old town; Jonker Street and the river are steps away

Portuguese, Dutch and British all held this port in turn. In the middle of the old town, Dutch Square is all brick-red: the 1650s Stadthuys town hall, the church, even the clock tower. Out front, trishaws smothered in plastic flowers and cartoon dolls blast music while they wait for riders. Across the river, Jonker Street runs past old Peranakan shophouses and cendol stalls, with a night market at weekends.
