Early on Sunday, Gaya Street closes to traffic and fills with stalls. Cut fruit in tubs, fresh juices, rattan bags and sundresses, fridge magnets and keyrings, potted plants, even puppies. The old shophouse kopitiams and laksa places along the street have long queues that morning too. By 9am the sun is fierce, so the move is to come early, eat breakfast here and walk the length of it.
