Sobameshi is chopped yakisoba fried with rice on a griddle, a working-class Kobe dish. The story goes that Nagata factory workers brought cold lunch-box rice to okonomiyaki shops and asked for it to be fried with their noodles. Aomori is credited with putting sobameshi on its menu first, around 1985. There's even a griddle-spatula monument to the dish by Shin-Nagata Station.
