The stone building in the middle of the old foreign settlement went up in 1935 as a bank. It now holds maps, objects and art from the years Kobe opened up as a port. The permanent exhibition on the ground floor is free, so it is an easy drop-in. Special exhibitions cost extra and change often. It is also a good place to duck into when the weather turns during a settlement walk.
