The hill on the seaward side of downtown; the zoo and lookout sit along the mid-slope road

A limestone hill right next to downtown, where hundreds of Formosan rock macaques simply live along the trails. From the Lovers' Lookout on the mid-slope you get the harbour, the 85 tower and the city lights in one frame, the classic Kaohsiung night view. Trails run from short loops to half-day hikes, and a small zoo sits on the lower slopes. Monkeys go for anything in a plastic bag, so keep snacks buried in your pack.
