At the very bottom of Taiwan, this national park sits on coral-reef water a completely different colour from the city's harbour; stepping off the bus you feel how far you've come. Eluanbi Lighthouse, the Maobitou cliffs and Baisha Beach are spread out, so people link them by scooter or taxi, and in the evening Kenting Street fills with stalls. As a day trip it's tight; one night there is better.
