Golden Dragon Water Puppet Theatre

Nhà hát múa rối nước Rồng Vàng

Fifty minutes of puppets dancing on water, only in Vietnam

Hours
A 6:30pm show is typical; dates can vary
Address
55B Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, inside the Palace of Culture and Labour

The stage is a small pool of water in front of the seats, and the puppeteers stand waist-deep behind a screen to work the puppets. The art began in flooded paddy fields in northern villages, so scenes are rice planting, fishing and dragon dances. You will not follow the Vietnamese commentary, but a live traditional band carries the show. The theatre is small and fills quickly in busy seasons, so book ahead.
