You don't need a ryokan to soak in Hakone. Tenzan stacks rock-lined outdoor pools down a wooded slope, fed straight from seven springs without dilution or reheating, and the men's side has an iron-pot bath. Hakone Yuryo, three minutes by shuttle from the station, has outdoor baths in a bamboo grove plus 19 private family baths that couples and families love. Since April 2025 Yuryo has let tattooed guests bathe.
