On the north tip of Lake Ashi at Togendai, five minutes on foot from the ropeway station and the pirate-ship pier. An ORIX-run ryokan with 158 rooms, opened in 2017. The lake-view foot-bath terrace and rooms with open-air tubs are the draw, and the dinner buffet comes with free-flow drinks. Guests often call it the most photogenic stay in Hakone.
