The main shop of Suzukake, a long-running Hakata wagashi maker, with a tea room attached. The bell-shaped mini monaka and little round rice cakes are the signatures, and the counter fills with seasonal sweets that change every month. The sweetness is restrained, an easy start for anyone new to Japanese confections. It's well placed after the Kawabata arcade or Kushida Shrine.
