Ramen and oden at riverside stalls under neon
⚠ Cash; closed in rain
- Hours
- Varies by stall; usually from dusk to around midnight; many close in rain
- Budget
- ¥2,000–4,000 pp
- Address
- Nakasu 1-chome, Hakata-ku, along the east bank of the Naka River (north of Haruyoshi Bridge)
After dark, a line of stalls sets up on the pavement along the Naka River. You squeeze onto a stool shoulder to shoulder with strangers and order ramen, oden, skewers or griddle dishes with a beer or shochu. The Nakasu neon reflects off the water, so it's worth a walk-by even if you don't sit. Each stall keeps its own hours and days off, and many stay shut when it rains.
