Lean on the balustrade and the river, its bridges, the Duomo's dome and the Palazzo Vecchio tower all fit in one view; most photos of Florence are taken from here. People claim spots on the steps an hour before sunset, then watch the stone turn from orange to pink before the lights come on one by one. A bronze copy of David stands in the middle, and there's usually a busker. A few minutes further uphill, the steps of San Miniato al Monte are higher and quieter.
