On the street corner sits a small bronze Skye terrier: Bobby, said to have guarded his master's grave for 14 years. Inside the kirkyard, mossy headstones and 17th-century tombs carved with skulls crowd the slope. Some names, like Thomas Riddell, are said to have fed into Harry Potter, so plenty of visitors wander the stones hunting for them. Over the wall you can see the castle and the turrets of George Heriot's School.
