At 2,565 metres this is Thailand's highest mountain. Tours usually leave early, start at Wachirathan Falls where the spray hits you from the viewing point, then climb to the twin pagodas built to honour the late King and Queen. Their gardens are packed with seasonal flowers, and from the terraces the ranges roll away beneath the clouds. The summit itself is a short boardwalk through mossy cloud forest, one of the few places in Thailand where you'll actually feel cold. On the way down, most tours stop at Karen or Hmong villages and a hill-tribe market for strawberries or coffee.
