Halfway up the forest path to Doi Suthep, a small temple sits among boulders and trickling water. Stone Buddhas and little shrines appear around a bend, and through the trees you can see Chiang Mai laid out below. It is a good spot to catch your breath in a shaded yard; monks use the path, hence the name Monk's Trail. From here it is roughly another hour on foot to the summit temple.
