Get in right at opening and you'll catch keepers tossing in bundles of bamboo while pandas lie on their backs crunching through shoots. By 10am most of them have eaten, climbed into a tree or gone indoors to sleep, so this is strictly a morning outing. The grounds are big enough to swallow half a day on foot, and the paid sightseeing cart saves your legs on the way to the far enclosures. Crowds keep queuing for He Hua, China's favourite panda.
