Qingyang; three parallel lanes: Wide Alley, Narrow Alley and Well Alley

Three parallel lanes of grey brick and black tile, a red lantern over nearly every gate. This was once the quarter of Manchu garrison families; today it is wall-to-wall teahouses, snack stalls selling rabbit heads and sweet tangyuan, and panda souvenirs. It is unmistakably touristy, but order a lidded cup of tea in one of the courtyard teahouses and the noise outside drops away. Come by day for photos, or after dark when the lanterns are lit.
