Follow the white stone arcades and you reach seven pointed turrets, one for each of the Magyar tribes that settled the country. It looks like a fortification but was built in 1895–1902 purely as a lookout. Every arch frames the Parliament across the river, which is why photographers stake out an archway each at dawn. The lower arcades and stairs are free at all hours; only the upper turret terrace is ticketed, and only during the day.
