The island in the Spree in Mitte; the Neues Museum is at Bodestraße 1–3

Five museums share the tip of an island in the Spree, the whole lot a UNESCO site. The one most visitors pick is the Neues Museum, where the bust of Nefertiti has a domed room to herself. The Altes Museum (Greek and Roman sculpture), the Alte Nationalgalerie (German Romantic painting) and the Bode-Museum, jutting into the river like a ship's prow, are all a few steps apart. The famous Pergamonmuseum has been closed for rebuilding since 2023; its north wing with the Pergamon Altar reopens first, on 4 June 2027. Until then, the Pergamonmuseum. Das Panorama across the canal shows the ancient city in a 360° painting.
