A runway-and-meadow park in the middle of town

The runways that handled flights until 2008 are now a public park of over 300 hectares, so flat that the sky is most of what you see. Berliners skate, kite and cycle straight down the old tarmac and spread picnics on the grass. A patch of community gardens sits tucked into one corner. There is no windbreak anywhere, so bring a layer more than you think you need.
