- Lindenstraße, Kreuzberg: a zinc zigzag wing bolted onto a Baroque old building
Daniel Libeskind's zinc-clad building looks like a broken Star of David from above. You enter through the Baroque old building and go underground into the new wing, and by the second corridor you have lost your sense of direction on purpose. The paths end at the Holocaust Tower, lit by a single slit, and at the Garden of Exile, whose tilted concrete pillars have olive trees growing out of the tops. The permanent show follows German Jewish life from Roman times to today.
