Walk up from Plaça d'Espanya between the two Venetian towers and fountains and stairways climb in tiers to the Palau Nacional on the hill. After dark the big central fountain throws up jets in time to music and cycles through colours; it was off for a long stretch during the drought, and people are clearly glad to have it back. Stand close for spray and volume, or climb the palace steps to see the show framed by Plaça d'Espanya, the city and Tibidabo hill behind.
