1 Koumbari St, a neoclassical mansion facing the National Garden

The mansion stacks Greece in order: Bronze Age gold, Byzantine icons, Ottoman-era reception rooms, relics of the War of Independence. The route climbs as the centuries come forward, so it's hard to get lost. On the top floor a rooftop café looks across the treetops of the National Garden to Lycabettus. After a day of ancient ruins, this is where the next two thousand years get filled in.
