The Evzones, the presidential guard, change shifts at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in front of Parliament on the hour, every hour. They wear the white pleated fustanella, red caps and clogs with fat black pom-poms on the toes, kicking their legs up in slow motion before stamping down. The weekday change is over in ten minutes or so; on Sunday at 11am a full company marches in with a military band. Between changes they stand dead still.
