A big hostel in a 1920s oil-company lab building. The basement has a shared lounge, kitchen and bar, the ground floor a 24-hour café and reception, and check-in is self-service on a tablet. Female-only four-bed dorms have their own shower and toilet. It's a three-minute free ferry from right behind Centraal, so in a city this expensive it's become a go-to for solo travellers.
