It sits just west of Yuanjiajie but slightly off the tour-group circuit, so you get the same pillar scenery with far fewer elbows. Tianbo Fu, a lookout that seems built on top of a pillar, is reached by steep iron stairs wedged into the rock; at the top you feel marooned on an island of peaks. The 'Natural Great Wall' viewpoint, where a rock wall runs on like a rampart, is a near-flat hour there and back. Deeper spurs such as Wulongzhai and One Step to Heaven take several hours each.
