Up on the plateau you look down on the pillars; here you look up at them. A clear stream runs beside a near-level stone path for about 7.5 km, with rock walls hundreds of metres high on both sides. The namesake Golden Whip Rock takes on a gold tint when the sun hits it. The plateau is where you gasp, this is where you stroll with the sound of water. Troops of macaques sit along the path and pounce the moment food comes out.
