A dammed lake between the peaks, so the water is deep green and the walls rise straight up all round. Climbing the steps from the gate you pass Baofeng Waterfall, a Journey to the West filming spot, then board a boat at the top for a 20–25 minute loop. Out on the water, a woman in Tujia dress sings from a little moored boat and your guide gets someone to sing back; that's the routine. Tour packages often slot it in as the easy day after the plateau hikes.
