A huge modern theme park on the site of the Tang imperial garden: pavilions, galleries and bridges ring a lake, with the seven-storey Ziyun Pavilion in the middle. Come at midday and you'll see why some reviewers call it big buildings with not much inside. Around 6pm the lights come on, every roofline turns gold and the lake doubles it, and the place makes sense. Walk in around 4–5pm, watch it switch on, then roll into an evening show or Datang Everbright City next door.
