Inside Da Ci'en Temple, Yanta; the fountain is on the North Square, and Datang Everbright City starts from the South Square

Built in 652 to store the scriptures Xuanzang (the monk from Journey to the West) carried back from India, the pagoda is now a seven-storey square brick tower that feels heavy and slightly off-plumb when you look up at it. Walk the Da Ci'en Temple courtyards by day, then move to the North Square in the evening, when hundreds of jets rise to music with the lit pagoda behind; reviewers keep saying it's bigger than the videos. Temple entry dropped from ¥40 to ¥10 in September 2025.
