Standard tour adults 27+ €18, under-27s, seniors and children 6+ €14, under-6s free. Standing room €13–18 at last season's prices, sold online from 10am on the day. Seats for the current month plus two are sold on the official site

Even without a ticket for a show, a 40-minute daytime tour takes you up the grand staircase, into the emperor's tea salon and out into the auditorium. To see an actual opera on the cheap, go standing room: 435 places released only on the day, each with its own little subtitle screen so you can follow along in English. The season runs September to June. Even just walking past the lit-up façade at night makes the Ring stroll.
