The beach below Cornwall Avenue at the foot of Arbutus Street

This is where Vancouver spends summer weekends. Behind the sand there are beach volleyball and basketball courts on the grass, and straight across the water the downtown towers, Stanley Park and the North Shore mountains line up. At one end, Kits Pool, a 137-metre heated saltwater pool, draws queues in summer. Up the hill, West 4th Avenue is full of cafés and yogawear shops for a break.
