This museum walks you through Mongolia in order: prehistoric finds, the Xiongnu and Turkic eras, the Mongol Empire, then the socialist century. Real felt-tent furnishings, costumes and herding tools make nomad life easy to picture. It sits beside the square, so it slots easily between other downtown stops.
